Concept to Creation: Cosplay Costumes
Good afternoon everyone, forgive me for not making a proper presentation as I know how important visuals are. Please bear with me.
I don't have a mind map to show unfortunately but I can talk about my interests.
Gaming, Cosplay, Fashion, Writing, Music (especially electronic and rap), and reading sci-fi and philosophical novels.
For me this isn't just a collection of hobbies; it represents the core of my creative inspiration. For example, the storytelling in games and sci-fi novels fuels my writing, while the visual artistry in fashion and cosplay inspires my design sense. The music I listen to often sets the mood for my creative process.
Connecting the dots: These interests all converge in cosplay. It's a blend of performance, visual art, fashion design, and storytelling. It's a way to bring characters to life and express my creativity in a tangible way.
Near the end of November last year, when I heard about the personal project i immediately knew I wanted to explore cosplay. I've always admired the craftsmanship and artistry involved, and I was eager to try my hand at creating my own costumes.
I started brainstorming characters I wanted to portray. Design, personality, story, etc. Astolfo (an anime character) was my inspo since I had already bought the outfit around that time.
Challenges:
Design and construction, sourcing materials (like wigs, and staying within a budget.
Research Phase: Materials Exploration
Shopping phase where I got to see and get the in-hand feel of the fabrics
Sketching, patterning, cutting, sewing, fitting
Reflections while working on this project: Will hone my design and construction skills, get used to working with concrete timeline of work.
Thank you :)
